Hi! I'm Dr. Niki Avina, a leader in professional development and founder of Might Could Consulting. I have a passion for empowering teachers and students to reach their full potential.
With experience as an elementary and middle school teacher, I bring a deep understanding of classroom practice and student learning to every session I lead. My time as a professor working with undergraduate and transition to teaching students taught me so much about the knowledge and skills new teachers need to thrive in the modern classroom.
I am dedicated to leading professional development and coaching for teachers that focuses on effective, research-based strategies to enhance teaching practices and improve student outcomes. I collaborate with school leaders and instructional staff to troubleshoot challenges and implement practical, research-based solutions. I am dedicated to empowering educators by providing the knowledge and skills to create more effective, equitable learning environments for all students.
Why Might Could?
After growing up in the Midwest, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia for my first year of teaching. I fell in love with all things Southern— the beautiful gardens, homestyle cooking, and of course, that Southern drawl. As a brand new teacher, I was so green and made so many missteps.
During this time, I was surrounded by a staff willing to share their knowledge and experiences to help me grow as an educator. Though I’m sure it was tempting, these colleagues never said, “You are doing it all wrong.” Instead, they provided gentle support with action steps, often using what is now a favorite phrase, “What you might could try is….” I used to giggle at the grammar, but now I reflect on the possibility and growth that is represented in that powerful Southern phrase.
Those years in Georgia were pivotal to my success as an educator because of the support and mentoring I received from knowledgeable and patient colleagues. Might Could Consulting is my way of paying forward all of the support I received in order to empower teachers and improve student outcomes.
